It is important to note that some Reiki practitioners use additional symbols in their practice. However, it’s entirely up to you whether you choose to use them. Feel free to incorporate these symbols if you feel drawn to them and believe they will assist you on your Reiki journey. We recommend conducting further research on each symbol and obtaining additional training from a professional to deepen your understanding.
In some Western Reiki lineages, practitioners may incorporate the Tibetan Master Symbol alongside the traditional Usui Reiki symbols. The Tibetan Master Symbol shares the same name, Dai Ko(o) Myo, as the Reiki Master Symbol in the Usui Reiki system. However, it is important to note that there may be variations in how the Tibetan Master Symbol is taught and used within different Reiki lineages.
The Tibetan Master Symbol is typically represented as a complex geometric design consisting of interlocking triangles, circles, and other symbols, but its appearance may vary depending on the lineage and/or interpretation. As for its uses, this Symbol shares similar functions to the traditional Dai Ko Myo symbol in Usui Reiki Some common uses may include:
Like the Usui Master Symbol, the Tibetan Master Symbol is believed to amplify the potency and effectiveness of Reiki energy. Practitioners may use it to increase the flow of healing energy during treatments, enhancing the overall healing experience for the recipient.
The Tibetan Master Symbol is often associated with spiritual awakening, enlightenment, and the realisation of one’s true nature. Practitioners may use it to deepen their connection to the spiritual aspects of Reiki, fostering personal growth and transformation.
Some practitioners use the Tibetan Master Symbol for energetic protection and clearing. They may invoke the symbol to create a sacred space for healing, shield themselves or their clients from negative energies, and release energetic blockages or disturbances.
Like the Usui Master Symbol, the Tibetan Master Symbol may also be used for distance healing.
Working with the Tibetan Master Symbol can help practitioners access higher levels of healing energy and spiritual wisdom. It may help practitioners cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness, confidence, and connection to their innate healing abilities.
In Reiki, the Serpent of Fire symbol influences the flow of life force energy (Ki or Chi) within the body. Depending on the intended outcome, it can be utilised in different ways: either to balance and ground energies or to awaken and activate the Kundalini energy.
When the Fire Serpent symbol is drawn from the crown chakra down to the root chakra, it balances and grounds energy. This technique is beneficial in several scenarios.
Drawing the symbol downwards before or after Reiki treatments can help ensure that the client’s energies are stable and balanced.
This method can also balance the energies of the chakras, ensuring that energy flows smoothly and harmoniously throughout your energy centres.
When the Fire Serpent symbol is drawn from the root chakra to the crown chakra, it awakens and activates the Kundalini energy.
This technique activates the Kundalini energy, often depicted as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine. When aroused, this energy ascends through the chakras, leading to a profound spiritual awakening and transformation.
The awakening of Kundalini energy can lead to increased energy levels, heightened perception, and profound spiritual experiences. However, it can also evoke unresolved emotional issues and significant physical sensations.
Only experienced Reiki or Yogic practitioners should draw the symbol upwards. This should be done under controlled circumstances to ensure the energy flows smoothly and safely. Avoiding potential risks associated with the uncontrolled rise of Kundalini energy is essential, as an awakening can lead to intense physical, emotional, and spiritual experiences.
The Antahkarana symbols, including the Male, Female, Cosmic Cross, and Square symbols, originate from Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu traditions and have been incorporated into some Western Reiki practices. These symbols are believed to hold powerful, energetic qualities and can enhance healing, spiritual growth, and personal transformation.
Here’s an overview of each symbol, its meaning and potential uses:
The Antahkarana Male symbol is derived from Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu traditions. It represents the male aspect of consciousness and the creative principle.
The Male symbol is associated with strength, assertiveness, action, and outward expression. It embodies the active yang energy that initiates change and transformation.
The Antahkarana Male symbol has powerful vibrations and is primarily used for direct healing as it provides deep cleansing and has focused and penetrating healing abilities.
The Antahkarana Female symbol is also rooted in Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu traditions. It represents the female aspect of consciousness and the nurturing principle.
The Female symbol embodies receptivity, intuition, compassion, and nurturing. It represents the passive, yin energy that encourages and supports growth and healing.
The Antahkarana Female symbol has more gentle, nurturing properties and can be used to balance and harmonise clients. It can help to soothe the nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety, and encourage a deeper sense of connection and self-compassion.
The Cosmic Cross is a universal symbol found in various spiritual traditions. It represents the intersection of the material and spiritual realms.
The Cosmic Cross symbolises the integration of opposites, the union of heaven and earth, and the balance between the physical and spiritual dimensions of existence.
This symbol can facilitate alignment and integration on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level. It may help to deepen the connection to higher consciousness, expand awareness, and promote holistic healing and well-being. Use this symbol directly on the Heart Chakra
The Square symbol is derived from sacred geometry and represents stability, structure, and grounding.
The Square symbolises the foundation upon which manifestation occurs, providing stability and support for growth and expansion.
The Square symbol can anchor and ground Reiki energy, creating a stable and supportive foundation for healing work. It helps promote feelings of protection, security, and safety and facilitates grounding and centring during Reiki treatments. It can help to release old, congested thoughts and bad habits.
Incorporating the Antahkarana symbols into Reiki healing practice involves activating and visualising the symbols during treatments, intending their specific qualities to enhance the healing process. Please make sure your client is fully grounded following the use of these symbols.
